Irish woman gets expert help for her perfect leap year proposal.

Women of the world have upped the ante in terms of proposals this leap year so fellas, take note!

Irish mother-of-two Aisling Megahey certainly put a lot of effort into popping the big question.

The 30-year-old from Belfast seized the extra day in February to propose to her partner of seven years Chris Kennedy.

Aisling and Chris were neighbours before they started dating and she still remembers the first day they met.

 ‘I had never seen him until one day he arrived at the door with a parcel for me which had been delivered to his house mistakenly,’ she said.

‘When I first saw him I fancied him straight away –he’s gorgeous!.’

Aisling, a trainee make-up artist on Game of Thrones was the winner of a competition, where she received a special engagement package courtesy of Lunn’s the Jewellers and proposal planning website, Propose2Me.

Aisling had the perfect cover story for her elaborate proposal. With Chris’ birthday being later this week, she used this as an excuse to treat him to the unexpected luxury getaway.

Aisling and Chris’ two young daughters, Ellie, 4, and Isabella, 1, also played a part in the special occasion. set the scene for the beautiful proposal and even arranged a photographer to capture the moment when Chris said yes!

After soaking in the magic of the moment, the newly engaged couple enjoyed a meal and an overnight stay at the 5 star Merchant Hotel before visiting Lunn’s the jewellers to pick out the all important engagement ring. Aisling chose a stunning single stone diamond surrounded by a dazzling halo.

Aisling gushed that everything just fell into place.

‘He asked me to meet him for a night out in town,’ she said.

‘After that night I knew he was the one.

‘Winning the competition seems like fate…it was like it was meant to be.’
